Hotel serves great food and can rooms! Wasn’t overwhelmingly nice for the price however. Would have given a higher rating but loud music going on until 11 pm outside and pool closed at 6pm. Was kind of a bummer for how much the room is. Other than that staff were friendly and everything Else was good

Great kick off to our Costa Rica travels. We arrived late and staff was very helpful and easy to communicate with, limited Spanish skills. Very nice rooms, breakfast, and pool. We only stayed one night but would stay again in the future.

We are happy with our stay, the hotel is located closely to the airport. Nice and clean room with everything you can wish for. The staff was helpful. The pool was a bit cold for my taste. The restaurant by the pool was fantastic!

When staying in San Jose just for the day (waiting on our flight back home in the late afternoon), we called the hotel to check if there were possibilities for a day-pass to enjoy the pools etc., without booking a night which was not needed for us. On the phone, the person was very rude to us; when we did not fully understand what he was saying due to the accent, and we friendly requested to repeat what he said, he simply replied “NO, do you understand THAT?!” in a very condescending manner. It looked like a very nice hotel, unfortunately the service we experienced was simply not good.

Este hotel es pésimo ! Con mal olor, el trato del personal es de lo peor! Además es antiguo todo! El personal no es atento , casi qué hay que rogar para que lo atiendan. La habitación tiene olor a guardado a viejo. Si van a visitarlo lleven desinfectante , no cambian las sábanas es un asco de hotel , puse la queja en recepción, la respuesta fue que el gerente le hará un reembolso , cuando lo solicite , el "gerente" fue grosero además de pedante ! No pierda dinero en este hotel de quinta categoría !Antes de hospedarse en barcelo mejor piénselo y busque una mejor opción que esté basurero

El ministerio de trabajo debería visitar este lugar de quinta. El trato a sus empleados por parte de los de mando es inhumano y asqueroso. Especialmente en el departamento de camareras... inaceptable completamente. Parecen las tiendas SYR. Y no solo los mismos de mando, permiten que los huéspedes traten a sus empleados como les de la gana, gritos, malas palabras,y hasta violencia física. No visiten lugares donde los empleados son tratados de manera inhumana.

The most beautiful hotel garden..! The rooms also have wonderful view. Some pieces of furniture , however, need to be upgraded. Breakfast was ok, but there was not any kind of chocolate -even in pancakes and croissants (which is a common breakfast in Europe). The pineapple 🍍 was the best i ve ever had in my entire life !

Um hotel tranquilo, perto da cidade, mas num local que transmite um ambiente tranquilo, com muita vegetação, muito verde, muito bem tratado. A. Simpatia de todo o staff é um ponto forte. O pequeno almoço, é suficiente e é sempre apresentado com categoria. Gostei bastante de todo o ambiente. Um hotel a repetir nas futuras vindas a San José.

Es un hotel excelente para el servicio Premium. El área de comida Premium es excelente pero no hay opciones vegetales/vegetarianas. La limpieza es muy buena y el personal es muy amable. Los amenities Premium para el baño son excelentes. El desayuno es excelente, variedad de comida, buen sabor. Parqueo excelente y bajo techo.Único punto malo a mencionar es que NO acatan las solicitudes del huésped hechas durante la reserva y constantemente hay que estar solicitando la asistencia. Por ejemplo, la reserva es para 3 personas y equipan la habitación únicamente para 2 personas, el plato de bienvenida siempre lo olvidan, cuando se requiere algo de recepción hay que pedirlo mil veces para que tal vez lo tramiten.Las tinas de los baños son muy resbalosas, recomiendo pedir una alfombra antideslizante.Es un hotel tranquilo, cómodo, con servicios varios.

Nos gusto mucho el Hotel muy cuidado y las habitaciones espaciosas y muy cómodas! les sugerimos que se enfoquen en la atención del personal de recepción, no son amables, les faltan algunos cursos de integración entre ellosse molestan enfrente de los clientes y no se ve bien! I love this hotel. Lovely decorated room, clean bathroom. Bed is comfy. Garden was very inviting, unfortunately I have not stayed long enough to enjoy it. Huge choice for breakfast. Guys working in there are doing exceptional jobs. I would recommend everyone who considers staying there.

Buenas habitaciones y buen servicio en general. Baja la nota porque el botones nos rompió una maleta por agarrarla de dónde no debía y lejos de disculparse por parte del hotel comentaron que mirarían las cámaras de seguridad como si no creyeran ni nuestra versión ni la del botones. Típica humedad de la zona en las habitaciones.

El hotel está muy viejo.Para nada debería conservar las cinco estrellas. El aire acondicionado estaba a tope cuando llegamos siendo insoportable lo fría que estaba la habitación. La habitación era vieja , con una cama doble muy pequeña y una supletoria. El baño era minúsculo y la bañera/ducha tenía fuga y llenaba de agua todo el cuarto de baño, haciéndolo resbaladizo. Había una máquina de hielo en la puerta de la habitación que hacía un ruido infernal.Al hablar con recepción la apagaron. Los ruidos no acabaron ahí, ya que está al lado de una autovía o carretera muy ruidosa y al no estar insonorizada era complicado descansar bien. En resumen, nefasto. Al menos en el restaurante se come bien (caro, pero bien) El desayuno es muy bueno, y es de los que tiene más opciones para elegir.

Jean was very helpful and went above and beyond. The rest of the staff were alright as well. The view was decent from the second floor. I asked for a higher floor and the first staff member lied to me that they were doing renovations and that the other floors were closed. But I could see that people were staying on the other floors. Jean told me the truth that the other floors were reserved for some event.

Estuvimos a la llegada a Costa Rica y repetimos a la vuelta 3 días más porque es excelente en todos los sentidos, nos hicieron sentir cómodos y el personal un diez todos, muy atentos y agradables. Excelente la habitación muy completa, amplia y la cama cómoda. todo el Hotel impecable de limpio. La comida y el desayuno buffet muy muy completo. La piscina Preciosa, no se puede pedir más. Recomiendo a todos los viajeros que vayan a este hotel, quedarán encantados.

El hotel es de los mejores de san José, la cama es muy cómoda y las zonas comunes están muy cuidadas. El personal del hotel es muy agradable y te atienden con mucho gusto. Tengo que destacar a Yorlenis que hace unas tortillas espectaculares en el desayuno, además de alegrarte la mañana junto con Maylene con su simpatía.

I stayed there 2 nights, before and after the flight to US. I was so glad that I have picked the hotel. I took advantage of the free airport shuttle. I liked the garden full of exotic trees and plants. It looked like a mini botanical garden and I found it very impressive. When I was using one of those bars located inside the hotel, I was enjoying the view of the garden. Besides, that bar had a live music in the evening! The rooms were outdated but clean , the bed was comfortable. I had a view on the garden and city of San Jose. I did not like that I have never received a wake up call, however , I requested it as soon as I checked in. I was lucky that I woke up without the wake up call and did not miss the flight. The hotel was good for the price.

My experience here was absolutely delightful. All of the staff were so helpful and kind and the rooms are very spacious yet comfortable. Being around nature was also divine, not forgetting how fabulous the food is here!

Apartado delcentro. Hotel con trato excelente, 3 tipos de restauración, aunque la de grill siempre la pillamos cerrada. Gimnasio, jacuzzi y piscina con tumbonas y hamacas muy cómodas. Restaurante Japonés y restaurante a la carta de platos tradicionales, pastas y pizzas. Tienda de souvenir. Las mejores y máscómodas y grandes camas en las que he dormido. Personal encantador

I only stayed here for one night. So I don't have much to say. But the hotel is beautiful. Wasn't anything I was expecting. Every was nice an clean. The bed was little bit small however. I'm 5'9 and if I stretched all the way out my foot would hang off the bed. Didn't have the chance to enjoy the pool but it looked fun. Amazing view from the windows.(mountain view). I just didn't like that breakfast Wasn't included. Good thing my excursion included breakfast. Also $5 uber to the mall. A real plus!

El hotel es todo lo que se necesita para descansar y pasarla bien, con una gastronomía variada y piscinas amplias. Sin embargo, el tiempo de espera para el check in fue sumamente alto, más de una hora y tenían en una hora donde es la mayoría de ingresos (cerca de las 3:00pm el 18-04-2022) sólo a una recepcionista que hizo malabares para dar la mejor atención posible (a ella la felicito).Igualmente a la mayoría del personal desgraciadamente se le nota muchísimo el poco ánimo e interés por brindar un atención amable y cordial, fueron contados con una mano a los que se les notaba que buscaban dar el servicio de la mejor manera. A pesar de ello, la calidad de las instalaciones así como la gastronomía compensan ese trato, por lo que definitivamente volveré, esperando disfrutar de una mejora en la atención.

Um hotel de 5 estrelas que não é recente mas está óptimo para ficar uma ou duas noites em S. José.Os colchões, as almofadas e a roupa de cama são de grande qualidade, mesmo Great! Dormimos muito bem. O pequeno almoço estava ok. As piscinas e os jardins são muito agradáveis. Os transfers gratuitos de e para o aeroporto funcionam bem. Resumindo a relação qualidade preço é muito boa.

Such a beautiful property which is lacking a good customer service. Employees are not nice to the customers. Even the property is being old which is not maintained properly. We had 3 rooms booked, all three rooms had very inconvenient shower door and all three are leaking lots of water on the bathroom floor. One room had broken soap tray. Not happy with the property. Definitely won't recommend.

Wonderful service. Very accommodating. We showed up after traveling for 2 days and the receptionist was so kind. She let us check in earlier and we even had the most wonderful breakfast. Very impressive and well maintained grounds. It’s a real sanctuary in the middle of the city.

El staff es muy amable pero las habitaciones ya están muy anticuadas. Lastimosamente la única noche que estuve ahí, tuve un problema ya que alguien se confundió y entró a mi habitación estando yo fuera, pero cuando yo intenté entrar mi llave no funcionaba, lo cual me dejo insegura durante la noche.

El lugar es muy bueno, agradable y tranquilo. Tiene diversos espacios donde se puede disfrutar, bar, restaurantes, piscina. Todo muy bien. Pero le doy 4 estrellas porque no hay área para fumadores. Si bien al ser un hotel multinacional, llegan personas de diferentes países, procedencias por lo que es incómodo tener que salir al parqueo para fumarse un cigarrillo.Para quienes fumamos, nos gusta fumar mientras leemos un libro, tomar un café, acomodar ideas o incluso solo para apreciar el entorno y el esplendor del día.

Generally well run, nice pool, comfortable rooms but dated decor and poor food.I was half board.. Didn't expect too much but both breakfast and dinner were very poor. I didn't even have my second included dinner and found a nice bar behind the hotel to eat at.

Mejor hotel o mejor hotel para estar en San Jose 💚 me quedé aquí al llegar y al irme de Costa Rica, definitivamente la mejor opción. Nos fueron a buscar y a dejar al aeropuerto a nuestra llegada y salida del país Gratis. El personal increíblemente amable. Excelente relación precio-calidad. Inclusive pase 1 noche por una cadena grande de hoteles " Radisson" y fue un desastre y caro.

There are a ton of shiny new western hotels in San Jose, the Barcelo is not one of them. But it is one of my favorite hotels in urban San Jose. The rooms are large, the pool area is very nice, the buffet style Costa Rican breakfast is great. A large open air breakfast pavilion is a great start to any day. If you are looking for fresh, fancy and new this is not your place. If you are looking for great comfort at an incredible value that feels a little nostalgic this is you ticket. I stay there almost every time I go to San Jose.

Considerando ser um hotel 5 estrelas,o custo benefício da hospedagem deixou bastante a desejar.Apesar de amplos, limpos e silenciosos, os quartos são antigos, com pouca iluminação, e alguns problemas, como vazamento no banheiro. O café da manhã é fraquíssimo, com poucas opções e desorganizado.O atendimento no hotel é, no máximo, mediano.

I have this hotel booked for Jan 10/21 and have been trying to get in touch with them via Expedia and personally for a MONTH!!! To change the dates as the airlines changed out dates. NO calls or emails being returned! Super Frustrating! Very bad customer service for Covid Times.

I wouldn’t recommend. I have a week to look for a new hotel. I got an email on Friday letting me know that the reservation was cancelled. I wish they would have let me know in advance or let me know there was a possibility of hotel not opening. Communication is key. Now I have a vacation with no hotel. Great place to stay to catch some sleep after a long flight. The service at the reception was great. The room was comfortable. The interior decoration was a little dated, but functional. We were lucky to get a room on the 1st floor (which is really the second floor by North American standard) and that meant that we had a spacious balcony. In our case breakfast was included, however it wasn’t the best we’ve had before. The property also offers a botanical garden and a swimming pool which were both very decent. So altogether some pros and a cons, still 4 out of 5.

(NOTE- THIS IS FROM MY STAY IN SEPT'17)Barceló San José looks great and has a friendly staff- very helpful to its guests. Several nice restaurants within space & popular meeting & ballroom. In closing I would say you could do better with a newer hotel as there are plenty here but would of course pay more. I sorta dug the retro 90s motif but admittedly most patrons want newer amenities.. I don't think Barceló should be neglecting this hotel property as it really does have a nice location/grounds and scenic views from upper floors. Easy access to highways & biz center but set back so not too loud.

This was an amazing experience, stayed here for the weekend the snack bar is great and the rooms are very comfortable. Although the price is $80-100 per night it's worth it for a business trip very convenient location I share some pictures while I stayed here.

This is an awesome place to stay while in Costa Rica.Excellent and attentive staff.The hotel food is great with a large variety.If you want something that you do not see due to dietary restrictions,b just let them know.Several restaurants for you dining pleasures.Beautiful well cared for grounds with lush gardens and magnificent flowers and trees.Close to the busy areas of town, but just distant enough to find a serene setting.Awesome rooms with nice views.A helpful English speaking staff if needed.A nice fitness center of a health club is accessible to you.This gym have all the right equipment that will allow you to get a full workout with zero issues and then relax in the whirlpool or take a swim in the large well cared for outdoor pool.I have no regrets what so ever.

The hotel it's a little antique , the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was good but can be better with the bread. No bacon. The bathroom was not so confortable. Staff was ok.
