“The Drake is obviously a beautiful, historic hotel and it is absolutely worth visiting.Just a little word of warning though, the place is extremely haunted. So be aware of the quirky things happening around you, and you decide if it's real or not.I am still wondering.”

“Having stayed at the Drake before Hilton bought the property, it’s a shame what they’ve done to this classic CHICAGO hotel. We arrived Friday night and there were no blankets for the sofa bed. It took 4 calls and over an hour to get a blanket for my kids. On Sunday evening we called to get bath towels because the housekeepers didn’t leave any. We were told that they had no one on staff to deliver them until 9 am, almost 2 hours later. Amazing. And the room was falling apart. Peeking wallpaper, cracked and flaking ceiling plaster, and a hole in the wall where a mini fridge had been removed. FYI, I am a Hilton Diamond member, so I doubt your experience will be any better, especially in terms of service. Shameful.”

I asked for and received an upgraded room with an oak street beach view. It was well worth it, very beautiful view. We enjoyed the bar lounge saturday evening very much. Much. Entertainment was good.

The Drake is lovely. We had a wonderful stay there: everyone we encountered (front desk, bellman, ladies in the coffee shop, etc) was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The location is perfect; the vibe is wonderful. The decor is gorgeous and perfectly reflects the heritage and authenticity of the hotel. I can't wait to go back!

Lovely hotel! The check-in process was a breeze. I was greeted by two friendly gentlemen at the front entrance and then Brad at the front desk facilitated everything else. The staff were helpful with local recommendations for shopping and attractions, as well as helping to bring my bags up to the room.
The room and public areas within the hotel were clean and tidy. I would definitely stay here again!

I returned to The Drake after many years. We used to have such good times there as a young family. Now shabby elegance. Beautiful public areas but private rooms need some updating. The wallpaper was peeling. No luggage rack so we used the ironing board in the lovely closet. The scales provided seem to need the batteries replaced. Another arm chair would have been nice.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking your stay. This site will compare hundreds of booking web sites and normally will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of my favorites in this area. I've been staying here for years. If you stay for a few nights you for sure won't be let down.
We had a lovely stay at The Drake right before Christmas. Everything was so festive. It was just what I wanted to jump start Christmastide.

I grew up in Chicago and have always wanted to stay here. It’s not like this super modern hotel which is going to blow your mind, but it has class. World class. My wife even booked us tea time at the Palm Court, and quite possibly the best One been to in America.

Great and friendly staff. Accommodations are first rate and you can never beat the views. Easy access to get wherever you need in the city. Front desk is knowledgeable and helpful. This is a old gem that people should not overlook. Location, price, friendliness. Our family has been staying here for years and I don't see us changing that tradition.

For a hotel that has been around as long as they have you would think they would have figured out customer service by now. But instead the staff was condescendingly placating, rude, and incompetent. They asked us what time we wanted room service, told them 1 pm, and they walked in without knocking at 9am while we were still asleep. We also were expecting a gift bag for the wedding we were attending, and were told three separate times that they forgot to give it to us and would send it up promptly. This of course never happened, and when I finally confronted them about it, they were dismissive and rude and just said they didn’t have it. Had they just said that at the outset that’d be understandable, but instead they tried to pass the buck and not deal with us.

I am a long-time Drake customer, 40 years. I booked a suite for the weekend to celebrate my partner's birthday. No concierge @ a 4-star hotel! None. No room service. Two only restaurants partially open. The condition of the suite was astoundingly poor. The Whirlpool in the bathroom(a main reason we booked this room) did not work. Nothing in the room that was not nailed down was in the room. No pillows on the sofa or chairs. No bath robes. No extra pillows or blankets. No wine or drink glasses, or glasses in the bathroom. A 2-foot tall sick plant in a pot meant for a 6-8' plant. Dirty windows. Peeling paint in many places. Old paint
This was beyond disappointing! The Drake is charging 4-star prices for a now 2-star hotel.

Our stay at The Drake was shared with 4 wedding parties and it was a very, loud mess. Slamming doors all night, loud people in the hall. And our door banged and rattled anytime another room door opened and closed. We also had a room that unfortunately had an adjoining room. We could hear everything going on in their room and them in ours...I chose The Drake to celebrate my 20th Anniversary and understood it to be more upscale and elegant than it actually is. The location is absolutely perfect but there are a lot of other choices in the same area.

The stay was great. Room was very spacious with the upgrade. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well-prepared with more than ample portions. The lounge staff was great especially considering this was the first week it had been open since the lockdown. Location is perfect.

The Drake as a building needs some TLC, but the staff could not be better. Everyone who works there is an asset, and made our stay there a pleasure. The location is perfect; the staff perfect. The room was comfortable and clean and welcoming. The fitness room needs some attention, but they have a Peloton bike, so I was as happy as could be during our stay. I love the Drake and cannot wait to be able to come back.

Hotel is in need of major upgrades and updates. The room was spacious, but furnishings are circa 1970s and early 1980s. The layout of the bathrooms made it crowded with tiny vanity hovering right next to the toilet (which didn't flush very well at all). Bathroom had a sulfur or foul odor that never went away, and old style tub/shower with shower curtains on 2 sides of the tub made certain that water ended up on the polished marble floor outside the tub no matter how carefully closed the shower curtains were. There was no mini fridge, hair dryer that barely dried my very short hair in a reasonable amount of time. Linens were rough and in desperate need of fabric softener or just replacement. And, bed was not very comfortable, with tiny pillows more consistent with an inexpensive motel. Most of the hotels amenities or services, like in room dining or their bar/lounge or executive level, or any extras, are currently closed or not available "due to covid-19". They do not provide daily maid service unless requested, and must also request fresh towels when needed. We upgraded to a lake-view King room, which had a decent view of the lake, but through 2 smaller, old windows partially covered in dated drapes and old shades. Naturally the age of the building poses a variety of challenges, and eliminates the possibility of floor to ceiling windows and modern design elements, but the appeal of the old building and classic design could certainly be preserved, enhanced and upgraded to be competitive and in line with most of the other nearby hotels..... especially at $322/night for a King room to accommodate 2 people. In it's current state, and with services currently offered, the best thing it has going for it is the location, but then again, so do many other hotels within a couple blocks.

Rooms are clean, big and stylish, I loved the lighting. Gorgeous view of Lake Michigan, the history behind this place and rooms made me feel very comfortable and interested to learn more about the city and hotel itself. Since I travel always with my dog I appreciate no hustle or complications about it which i met with in The Drake hotel, staff is helpful, pleasant.
Hotel restaurant food was great and I loved the tea service. Anything you might need is with in 5min walk from hotel or in hotel. Interior is spectacular

We went to the Drake's Tea Room, not to stay at the hotel. I was a wonderful experience. We were sat right by the harpist which was wonderful. I myself am not a tea drinker but they had a wonderful tea that I found quite good, Fruit Garden. It was a something worth doing at least once in anyone's life. The tray of sweets and little sandwiches is quite good. It is something I would love to do again. That is for sure.

One of the main selling points for booking a room here was the fact that many rooms have two bathrooms. With multiple teenage daughters, this was a key. The family rooms with two bathrooms have ample room. The hotel is great. Staff is great. Location is great, right on Michigan Ave. and near many shops, coffee, restaurants, etc.

Great place very cozy and unique. Beautiful and great views . Great views everywhere. There's a reason this is that people love this place . It is beautiful! It was well worth the stay to check it out, everything is very picturesque definitely add this to your "must stay". The flowers in the lobby are fresh everyday. The flowers in the bar area are beautiful. The hotel is historic. The staff is great. The rooms are big and spacious. You have to check this place out.
